The Cab x CARR

CARR

To start, Summit Music Hall in Denver is hands down my favorite venue to go to. And yes, I’m probably making a lot of Colorado folks here angry by saying that over places like Red Rocks or the Broncos’ stadium, but I’m serious; I LOVE it there. So when I saw a couple of bands that I love were gonna play there, I was on board so fast.

CARR was the first one up for the night, opening the show with “Spiral City”. She and her band had such insane energy; it was honestly hard to focus without dancing along with them and the crowd. The set was quick and intense, chaotic and energetic throughout the run-through, with CARR dancing around the stage in an iconic tutu. Ending the set with “Sick Bro” I a little bummed when her set ended.

The Cab

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: The Cab was the first-ever band I bought concert tickets to see when I was like 17, and after they had a crazy long departure from the scene, I will NEVER pass up an opportunity to see them live now.

Their newly released album “Chasing Crowns” is full of no-skips, so I was so stoked to see these new songs played live. Mixing in songs from this new album and their older, more epochal ones was like an emotional rollercoaster in the best way. It was like going back and forth between 17-year-old Morgan and today Morgan every 3 minutes, and it was amazing.

The Cab did an incredible job involving the audience, getting crowd participation on “La La”, playing a 90’s/00’s pop-mashup of songs from Brittany Spears to the Backstreet Boys, and just showing genuine care and appreciation for the love and support we all had for the band. When singer Alexander DeLeon told a story about his journey to recovery for his vocal cords over the past decade, I was genuinely moved to tears. The Cab, if even possible, is better than they were when I was a teenager, and I honestly cannot wait for them to come back on tour again.
