Flycatcher
This band surprised me and made me want to hear more right off the bat! Coming out strong and setting the tone for the night, Flycatcher delivered some solid moody atmospheric emo. This was my introduction to Flycatcher, and I was impressed by their sound which feels familiar but new and refreshing at the same time. They definitely made me a fan after watching their set, and the crowd seemed to feel the same way.
Carly Cosgrove
From the stripped down start of the set to the explosive ending, Carly Cosgrove put on such a fun show. From the name alone, deriving from iCarly, you are instantly transported back to your childhood and their playful energy added to the fun and nostalgic feel of the set. There were so many dynamics throughout the set that felt like riding a roller coaster of emotions. For only being a 3 piece band, they achieve such a massive sound through their sick bass groves, open guitar tunings, huge drums and passionate vocals.
Microwave
Microwave always give it their all every time they hit the stage. From the fun instrumental breaks and guitar solos to the stripped down acoustic song under the disco ball lights, Microwave put on a performance you will be talking about to all of your friends. At one point it felt like there was an earthquake as the entire venue from front to back was jumping up and down. The ‘Meowcrowave’ cat shirt I brought home was just a bonus!
Free Throw
Ah Free Throw, what a way to finish out the night. The energy in the room for Free Throw’s set felt like screaming passionate heartfelt lyrics at the top of your lungs with a room full of people who understand you. These guys really bring out the energy in the crowd, with such loud crowd participation adding to the excitement of their performances, this one was no exception. Watching the endless crowd-surfers from the balcony was an awesome experience and really showed how much people connect with this band! I hadn’t seen them before, but would definitely catch them again next time they’re in Denver.
