WaKe Me

Kicking off the night was Wake Me, a local Denver band that made this lineup feel a little more special. There’s something genuinely exciting about seeing a local act share the stage with touring bands. It’s a chance to celebrate the talent coming out of your own city while watching a band get in front of a crowd that might not have discovered them otherwise. Seeing Wake Me on a bill alongside Verses Me, PINKNOISE, and Archers was a reminder that local bands deserve more than a passing mention on the flyer. They’re part of what makes a music scene feel alive, and getting to see a Denver band included in a lineup like this was a highlight in its own right.

Opening a show is no small task. You’re warming up the room, setting the tone, and helping turn a crowd of concertgoers into an audience ready to throw themselves into the night. Wake Me had the chance to do just that, and it was great to see a local band share the stage with artists bringing their own followings to Denver.

If there’s one thing I’ll always advocate for, it’s showing up for the openers. You never know when you’ll catch a local band on its way to something bigger.

Versus ME

Next up was Verses Me, a band I hadn’t seen live before and whose music I hadn’t really explored. Going into a set without expectations can be a gamble, but sometimes it pays off in the best way.

First of all, the aesthetic was incredible. They looked gorgeous onstage, all decked out in a cyber-punk vibe and with a visual presence that immediately made them stand out. But looking the part only gets you so far; fortunately, they sounded even better.

Verses Me absolutely made an impression. Their look drew me in, but the performance gave me a reason to pay attention beyond the visuals. It was one of those sets that makes you think you should probably spend some time with the band's music after the show. Which, frankly, is a pretty effective way to win over a new listener.

PINKNOISE

PINKNOISE was up next, and this set had a different kind of excitement for me. I’d gotten to see them earlier in the year, and that first experience had already won me over. The vocals were incredible, and the rest of the band impressed me just as much. Getting to see them again was something I was genuinely looking forward to. And when the vocals are what first caught your attention, seeing that talent again is reason enough to be excited. A great vocalist can completely change the feel of a live set, bringing a level of emotion and power that makes a song land differently in a room full of people. Singer Kacey Foxx is just on another level. Pair that with a band that can hold its own musically, and you have the kind of performance that sticks with you.

PINKNOISE was a welcome return for me, and their place in the lineup made the night even better. Between catching a local band, discovering a new one, and getting to revisit a band I already loved seeing live, the openers alone made a strong case for arriving early.

By the time Archers were up, the evening had already delivered three very different reasons to appreciate the lineup.

Archers

As a longtime fan, having found them around 2021 and seeing them live for the first time in 2023, seeing Archers take the stage was the payoff I'd been waiting for. The band brought incredible energy, balancing heavy instrumentals with the kind of vocals that make you wonder how anyone can sound that good while delivering a performance at full intensity.

The vocalist was an absolute standout, and the whole band matched that talent with a level of energy that made it impossible to stay still for long. The set mixed fan favorites with popular tracks, giving the crowd plenty of opportunities to sing along and mosh. At one point, the drummer even stood on his drum throne to get the crowd moving. Because apparently playing the drums at full intensity wasn't enough; he also needed to make sure the entire room was fully committed to the chaos.

And just when it seemed like the night was wrapping up, Archers returned for not one but two encores. If the crowd needed any further evidence that nobody was ready to go home, that was it.

What made this show special wasn't just Archers delivering the kind of performance that reminds you why you're a fan. It was the full lineup: Wake Me representing Denver, Verses Me making a memorable first impression, PINKNOISE giving me another chance to appreciate a band I already loved, and Archers bringing the night home with huge vocals, relentless energy, and a double encore.

It's easy to treat opening acts as background noise before the headliner arrives. But nights like this are a reminder that the supporting bands aren't just filling time. They're an important part of the experience, and sometimes they're the reason you leave with a new artist to listen to on the drive home.
