Out In Front
Out In Front came out swinging with the kind of energy that immediately makes you pay attention. Their vocals are incredible, but what really stood out was how good they are at performing. There is an electricity to the way they move through a set, and that energy never felt forced. They were fully committed to every second of it, and the crowd responded in kind. I’ve said it before, but I love going to a show where you can just tell from the energy on stage that the people on there are all friends and just love what they do, and Out In Front is a prime example of that energy.
“Straight Up to Space” remains a gut punch live. Hearing it in a room full of people somehow makes it hit even harder. For me, though, “Around We Go” was the standout for me, being the kind of song that settles into your head and refuses to leave.

By the time Charlotte Sands took the stage, the Federal Theatre was buzzing. The venue itself added something special to the night. With its old movie-theater feel and slanted floor, it has a character that makes a show feel more intimate than a typical concert space. It felt like the perfect room for an artist whose music so often lives in that space between huge, anthemic release and deeply personal confession.
And Charlotte knows exactly how to create those moments.
One of the coolest surprises of the night came when Sands passed a binder of songs she doesn't currently play live into the crowd. Instead of simply sticking to a predetermined setlist, she let the audience choose two acoustic songs. It's a small gesture, but it made the show feel incredibly personal, like the audience wasn't just watching the set, but actually being a part of one that wouldn’t be recreated.
Then came “Afterlife”, and I wasn't holding it together. By the time Charlotte was performing it, I was sobbing my eyes out. Looked over at one of my friends who was at the show too, and she was crying as well, which made us both laugh in just a beautiful, relieving way.
And then came “Sunday.” Some songs feel like they're written for a particular person, even when they're not. “Sunday” is a beautiful love song, and hearing it live immediately made me think of my partner. Sometimes a concert gives you a moment that you know you'll want to hold onto after the lights come back up. For me, this was one of them.
That's probably the simplest way I can explain what made this show so special. It wasn't just that Charlotte Sands sounded great, although she absolutely did. It was the way the songs created these little emotional spaces throughout the night. One minute you're surrounded by a room full of people screaming lyrics back at the stage, and the next you're standing there thinking about someone you love, something you've lost, or some version of yourself you haven't quite figured out how to let go of.
The show had plenty of energy, but it never sacrificed that vulnerability. The big moments felt big, the quiet moments felt intimate, and the audience was given room to experience the songs in their own way. Walking out of the Federal Theatre afterward, I was left with the strange combination of feeling completely exhausted and completely full.
Out In Front reminded everyone in the room just how powerful a great live performance can be. Charlotte Sands reminded us why we go to concerts in the first place: sometimes you need to scream, sometimes you need to dance, sometimes you need to send your partner a song, and sometimes you just need to stand in a dark theater and cry.
Honestly, that's a pretty good night.
